Although Athens Olympics champion Zhang Ning won over
Ratnasari Fransiska 21-13, 21-14, the world No. 1 was not satisfied with her
performance. "I think I didn't play well today. My opponent was weaker than the
one I faced the day before yesterday."
While facing Wong Mew Choo from Malaysia on Thursday,
31-year-old Zhang seemed too tired to run and lost the first set to the gritty
rival.
Winning the following two games 21-18 and 21-18, the
veteran said, "I don't know what's wrong with me. I just felt I moved too slowly
on court."
After China led Indonesia 3-0 which guaranteed the
win, Athens Olympic champions Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen spent 29 minutes to overcome
Liliyana/Nurita Lita 21-15, 21-18. Asian Games rookie ZhuLin clinched her second
win at Doha, beating Bernadet Pia 21-15, 21-18 to gift China another 5-0
victory.
China, sweeping Malaysia 5-0 on Thursday, entered the
semis as the winner of Pool W. Indonesia and Malaysia have to fight for the
second place of this group in the evening.
Winners from three groups advance to the semis, and
runners-up of the three groups fight for the last semifinal place.
