DOHA, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- China's Chen Li won the women's trap event with a total of 89 shots here on Saturday at the 15th Asiad.
Chen, World Championship runner-up, hit 69 targets out of 75 in the qualification round and 20 out of 25 in the final round, taking the first individual gold medal of the Doha Asian Games.
"It seems so easy of the victory," said Chen to her coach Zhang Huiqun.
"You are deserved it," replied Zhang.
Her compatriot Zhu Mei edged Lin Yi Chun from Chinese Taipei by1-0 in the shoot-off, winning the silver medal. Lin was the third.
"Chen did a good job in such a windy day." said Zhang, "It was a little bit cold this morning when the qualification began due to the heavy rain last night. But Chen well concentrated on herself, which led to her victory."
According to Lin, the fourth placer of the women's double trap in the Sydney Olympics 2000, Chen and Zhu are very competitive and she always wants to catch up with them.
"I have been training in this event for a year, and there is still a long way to go," Lin said. "But my goal is a gold medal of the Olympic Games."
