DOHA, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- China beat arch rival Indonesia to grab the first semifinal place at the badminton men's team event at the 15th Doha Asian Games here on Saturday.
World champion Lin Dan pulled off the victory over Indonesian Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat 21-17, 17-21 and 21-16, followed by world No. 1 Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng's win over Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan.
Although Asian Games rookie Chen Jin lost to Simon Santoso, Xie Zhongbo/Guo Zhendong knocked Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Chandra in straight sets.
Indonesia has to fight for the last semifinal berth with the other two runners-up in Pool B and Pool C.
