Top legislator: China willing to boost relations with Grenada

    BEIJING, Dec. 7 -- China's top legislator Wu Bangguo has met with Grenada's president of the Senate, Kenny Lalsingh, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lawrence Joseph. Both sides expressed their willingness to boost relations.

    During the meeting, Wu Bangguo said China would like to work together with Grenada to strengthen friendly cooperation in all fields.

    Wu said the Taiwan issue is of core interest to China and to the emotions of 1.3 billion Chinese people. He thanked the Grenadan government and parliament for their stance on the one-China policy and their efforts in supporting China's reunification. This, Wu Bangguo said, has consolidated the political foundation of Sino-Grenadan relations.

    Addressing relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries, Wu Bangguo said China's National People's Congress would like to strengthen cooperation with Grenada's parliament and exchange experiences in legal and democratic constructions.

    For their part, the Grenadan guests reiterated the country's firm adherence to the one-China policy.
