BANGKOK, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Thai Army Chief and Chairman of the Council for National Security (CNS) Sonthi Boonyaratglin on Monday warned more attacks from those behind the bomb attacks in Bangkok on New Year Eve.

    Speaking at a press conference after a CNS meeting, Sonthi said it is possible for the attackers to make more violence in Bangkok to create chaos.

    Therefore, he said, the CNS would hold training for the public so that they could help monitor against possible terror attacks and could inform the authorities in time.

    He said the CNS would seek cooperation from owners of fuel stations, department stores and various factories to send their employees to receive the training.

    He said the training should help the people know as to whether they should alert officials about irregularities.

    Sonthi said the CNS has assigned the Internal Security Operations Command to be in charge of security affairs in the country.

    Meanwhile, the Army Commander-in-Chief ruled out the second coup, saying none in the army would stage it.

    "No way, I believe the Army will not do that," Sonthi said while addressing a question as to whether the bomb attacks might be a precursor to a second coup.

    A series of bomb attacks in Bangkok on the New Year's eve killed three persons and injured some 40 others, including nine foreigners from Britain, Hungary, Serbia and the United States.
