NEW YORK, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Crude oil prices declined Monday on mild U.S. weather although OPEC is considering to cut supply.
The prices rebounded in earlier trading on Monday as a report said OPEC oil ministers are considering to cut crude supply, but they fell later on abnormal warm weather in the United States.
The northeast region of the United States, the biggest heating oil market, has experienced unusual warm winter in the past weeks.
Crude oil prices have plunged almost 8 percent on the shrinking demand since the beginning of this year, hit a 18-month-low last week.
On Monday, light sweet crude for February delivery went down 22cents to 56.09 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. February Brent at London's ICE Futures exchange lost 4 cents at to 55.60 a barrel.
