CAIRO, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa said on Tuesday that his pan-Arab organization is ready to send a high-level delegation to the Palestinian territories to help end the infighting there.

In a statement to reporters on Tuesday, Moussa said that such a mission would "meet all Palestinian factions to bring an end to the political impasse and internal fighting between Palestinians."

Moussa also called on rational Palestinian political factions to immediately intervene and adopt a united stand in face of a perilous situation in the Palestinian territories.

He, meanwhile, urged for intensifying Arab contacts to launch an Arab initiative to bridge the gap among Palestinians, warning that the continued infighting among the Palestinians would destroy the Palestinian cause.

The AL chief welcomed the idea of holding an international conference on peace in the Middle East and highlighted the importance of making good preparations for such a gathering.

An ongoing conflict between the two rival Palestinian movements of Fatah and Hamas escalated in several West Bank areas on Monday, while the two sides trading accusations against one another through local media.

Last week, the Gaza Strip witnessed intensive armed clashes between militants belong to both movements, where more than 10Palestinians were killed and over 50 others wounded.
