BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Pablo Aimar, a
midfielder for Spanish first division side Zaragoza, withdrew on Thursday from
the Argentine national team for an injury on his left knee ligaments, the
Argentine Football Association said.
Argentina is due to play a friendly against France
next week, in Saint Denis, a town north of the capital Paris. The AFA freed the
player from this commitment after team doctors Raul Madero and Homer De Agostino
examined him.
The team that is set to play is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Roberto Abbondanzieri (Getafe) and
Leonardo Franco(Atletico Madrid).
Defenders: Roberto Ayala (Valencia), Gabriel Milito
(Zaragoza),Nicolas Burdisso (Internazionale, Italy), Gabriel Heinze (Manchester
United), Fabricio Fuentes (Villarreal) and Rodolfo Arruabarrena (Villarrreal).
Midfielders: Javier Zanetti (Internazionale, Italy),
Fernando Gago (Real Madrid), Aldo Duscher (Deportivo La Coruna), Esteban
Cambiasso (Internazionale, Italy), Luis Gonzalez (Porto), Leandro Somoza
(Villarreal) and Jonas Gutierrez (Mallorca).
Forwards: Javier Saviola (Barcelona), Sergio Aguero
(Atletico Madrid), Diego Milito (Zaragoza), Hernan Crespo (Internazionale,
Italy) and Lisandro Lopez (Porto, Portugal).
