JAKARTA, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Nine people were killed and one missing in the flood that has swept through Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, Health Ministry offical Rustam Pakaya said here Sunday.
Up to now, four tons of medicine and 17 tons of baby food have been allocated by the minicipal government of Jakarta to the victims of flood, Pakaya told Xinhua.
Days of incessant rain has recently triggered floods in Jakarta,inundating thousands of homes, government buildings and businesses and forcing authorities to cut off electricity and water supplies.
With many parts of the city being still under neck-deep water, the authorities have warned more rivers may burst their banks.
