Special Report: President Hu visits 8 African nations

    VICTORIA, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao met his Seychellois counterpart James Alix Michel Saturday in Victoria, capital of Seychelles, to discuss further development of bilateral relations.

    During their talks, the two leaders exchanged views on how to consolidate friendship and expand cooperation between their two countries.

    Following their talks, the two countries were expected to sign a series of cooperation documents.

    Hu arrived in Victoria Friday on the last leg of his eight-nation African tour that has already taken him to Cameroon, Liberia, Sudan, Zambia, Namibia, South Africa and Mozambique.

    Since the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 1976, the China-Seychelles friendly cooperation has witnessed smooth development, with mutual understanding and trust enhanced and cooperation and exchanges being fruitful in various areas.

    Last November, President James Alix Michel paid a state visit to China and attended the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

    Hu is scheduled to leave for Beijing in the evening when he concludes the current Africa tour which began on January 30.
