WARSAW, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Poland and the United States on Thursday signed an agreement that will allow for a deeper sharing of confidential military intelligence, the Polish PAP news agency reported.

    The agreement was signed by Zbigniew Wasserman, Poland's minister for security services, and U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe.

    It substantially upgrades the sharing of military information and will make it easier to combat terrorist threats and organized crimes, PAP quoted a government statement as saying.

    The agreement comes as the two countries are set to open negotiations on the possibility of placing a U.S. missile defense site in Poland.

    Washington is seeking to deploy interceptor missiles in Poland and a missile defense radar in the Czech Republic as part of a U.S.-built shield against ballistic missiles.
