Special report: Tension escalates in Iraq

FALLUJAH, Iraq, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Seven people from one family were killed and nine others wounded in two roadside bomb attacks near Fallujah on Friday, local police said.

A roadside bomb went off near a minibus carrying a family on a main road near the Amriyat al-Fallujah town, 7 km south of Fallujah City, killing seven family members and wounding two others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Two women and three children were among the deaths, the source said.

In separate incident, another roadside bomb detonated near a minibus in the Albu Hatim area just west of Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, wounding seven people, the source added.

Insurgents frequently attack U.S. and Iraqi forces in the western province of Anbar, which includes Fallujah and Ramadi, despite U.S.-Iraqi military operations in the city to stamp out insurgency and hunting foreign fighters.
