SEOUL, May 7 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun will push for an inter-Korean summit on the basis of mutual trust, Presidential Spokesman Cheon Ho-seon said on Monday.

"Roh remains unchanged in his determination to improve inter-Korean relations through summit diplomacy. But the president has a flexible position on the summit venue," Cheon was quoted by South Korea's Yonhap News Agency as saying.

Roh made the remarks during his recent luncheon meeting with former Uri Party chairman Chung Dong-young at Cheong Wa Dae, the spokesman said.

However, Yonhap said Roh's meeting with Pyongyang's top leader Kim Jong-il won't take place unless there is more progress in the settlement of the nuclear problem.

Roh is still determined to support former President Kim Dae-jung 's visit to Pyongyang and link the six-party nuclear talks to inter-Korean relations, the spokesman added.
