LONDON, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko will miss Chelsea's FA Cup final against Manchester United later this month due to a scheduled hernia operation on Tuesday.

    The surgery had originally been scheduled for the end of the season but Chelsea's medical department decided to bring it forward, said the club on their official website on Monday.

    It completes a disappointing debut campaign in English soccer for the Ukraine international, who joined Chelsea from AC Milan for a fee of 30 million pounds (59.9 million U.S. dollars) last May but has struggled to recapture the dazzling form he showed during his seven years in Italy.

    The 30-year-old has been rumored to leave the Londoners in the close season after notching 14 goals for Chelsea but only four coming in the Premier League.
