BEIJING, May 10 -- Vodafone Group Plc, the world's
largest mobile-phone company, negotiated a 3.1 percent discount on its purchase
of an Indian wireless unit from billionaire Li Ka-shing's Hutchison
Telecommunications International Ltd.
The British company, which said in
February it would pay 11.08 billion U.S. dollars to buy a 67 percent stake in
Hutchison Essar Ltd, will retain 352 million dollars to pay costs associated
with the purchase, according to a statement by Hutchison Telecom Wednesday
that didn't provide further details.
