BRUSSELS, May 10 (Xinhua) -- NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will visit the United States on May 20 and 21 at the invitation of U.S. President George W. Bush, said a NATO press release on Thursday.

De Hoop Scheffer has been given the honor of staying in Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas.

The NATO chief will discuss with Bush NATO's operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo, NATO's ongoing transformation and NATO enlargement.

De Hoop Scheffer is seen to be particularly pro-American. Unlike leaders in certain European capitals, he agrees on almost everything that Washington proposes.
