LUSAKA, Nov.3 (Xinhua) -- Zambian Vice President Rupiah Banda has criticized some politicans who have made negative remarks about Chinese investment in the country.

Zambia's newspaper, the Post, reported on Saturday that Banda told a Parliament hearing on Friday that Chinese investments in the country have benefited many people and "it will be naive for anyone to say Chinese investment has not been appreciated."

Chinese investment in Zambia grew fast in the past decade, creating thousands of jobs for the locals.

Chambishi mines, abandoned by western investors for years, was revived by Chinese investment in 2003. More than 150 million U.S. dollars has been injected in since its reopen, with further 800 million dollars to be invested in the next five years.
