GAZA, May 6 (Xinhua) -- An Islamic Hamas movement militant was killed and another was seriously wounded early Tuesday in an Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza Strip, witnesses and medics reported.

Mo'aweya Hassanein, chief of emergency and ambulance services in the Palestinian Health Ministry, identified the dead man as Hisham Shumar, 23, adding that the other man was in serious condition.

Hamas movement's armed wing al-Qassam Brigades said in a leaflet that Shumar is one of its members, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his car in northern Gaza Strip. The Israeli airstrike on Hamas militants' car coincided with an Israeli incursion into northeastern Gaza Strip, residents said, adding that several tanks and armored vehicles rolled into the area amid intensive shooting.

No injuries were reported, but Israeli bulldozers guarded by the tanks leveled the area, residents said.
