SEOUL, May 6 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte will conduct a two-day visit to South Korea on Thursday as part of his Asian tour, said South Korea's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
According to the ministry, Negroponte is set to meet with South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan and other senior officials to discuss pending issues including the nuclear issues on the Korean Peninsula.
Negroponte is also expected to use his visit to discuss ways of following up on the summit agreement between the U.S. President George W. Bush and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak last month, local media reported.
Following the visit to Seoul, Negroponte will fly to Tokyo and Beijing for other two legs of his Asian tour, the ministry said.
