BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhuanet) -- A former mental patient obsessed with Uma Thurman was found guilty on Tuesday of stalking and harassing the actress, media reports said.

Jack Jordan, a 37-year-old out-of-work lifeguard and pool cleaner, faces a maximum of one year in prison for the count of second-degree aggravated harassment, although he was acquitted of two additional counts of second-degree aggravated harassment.

The judge can issue an order of protection that requires Jordan to stay away from Thurman.

Jordan, a University of Chicago graduate, was accused of sending harassing e-mails to Thurman's father and brother, loitering for hours on the steps of Thurman's Manhattan apartment and visiting her trailer on the set of the 2006 film, "My Super Ex-Girlfriend."

His parents had him committed to a mental institution after he gave one of Thurman's assistants a cartoon of a razor blade and a picture of a bride without a head, according to media reports.

The trial attracted widespread attention because Thurman testified, along with her mother, Birgitte, a former Ford model known to friends as Nena, her father, Robert, a professor of Indo-Tibetan studies at Columbia University, and her brother, Dechen.

Thurman, whose film credits include the "Kill Bill" movies and "Pulp Fiction," testified during the five-day trial that she was "completely freaked out" by Jordan's actions and feared for her life and the safety of her two children.

Jordan's lawyer, George Vomvolakis, said his client loved Thurman and was obsessed by her but that his behavior was merely "creepy," not criminal.

Jordan testified in his own defense, saying Friday he now understands how Thurman could have been frightened by his attempts to see her, and by his comment that her two children didn't exist, that they were "an illusion."

Jordan will be sentenced on June 2.
