HOHHOT, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Five Hong Kong volunteers and a British volunteer, injured in a bus accident on Tuesday morning in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, flied to Hong Kong for further treatment on Wednesday afternoon.

The six volunteers, staff members of two poverty-relief organizations based in Hong Kong, took a plane at 3:40 p.m. from the region's capital city of Hohhot via south China's Shenzhen city to Hong Kong for further treatment, said Yang Yang, an official with the region's foreign affairs department.

A 26-year-old Hong Kong man was killed, four others seriously injured and seven slightly injured after their bus overturned on a highway in Siziwang Banner at about 11 a.m. when they were returning to Hohhot after finishing a mission in Xilingol League.

The four serious injured are still receiving treatment in No.1 Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical College. They have no life-threatening injuries and are in stable conditions, according to medical staff.

Only one injured Hong Kong volunteer chose to stay in Hohhot to accompany his colleges.

A total of 18 people, including 13 Hong Kong citizens, a Briton, and four Chinese mainlanders, were onboard the tour bus.

Local government officials and the police are trying to ascertain the cause of the accident.
