BERLIN, May 7 (Xinhua) -- World number one tennis player Justine Henin said on Wednesday she would play for Belgium at the Beijing Olympic Games and winning gold medal is her main objective this year.

"Playing in Beijing is one of my main objectives this year," Henin told Xinhua in Berlin at the German Open.

At the Athens Olympics in 2004, Henin beat French star Amelie Mauresmo 6-3, 6-3 to seal the women's singles, the only gold medal for the Belgian Olympic delegation in Athens.

Recalling her performance four years ago in Athens, Henin said that was a "fantastic" moment, and she hopes she could repeat the golden moment in Beijing later this year.

"I'll play for my country and win the medal," she said.

When asked who would be her top rival in Beijing, Henin said what she was doing now is to "concentrate on" training and adjust her "nerves" to the Beijing Olympics.

This year, the world number one player had been out of form and had lost to several rivals including American Serena Williams.

However, Henin told Xinhua that she became "better" now.

On Wednesday, Henin breezed into the third round of the German Open after she beat Chan Yung-Jan from Chinese Taipei in straight sets.
