It is also the wish of the Chinese people to enhance
understanding and friendship among people of different countries through the
Games in August, he added.
That is why China has chosen "One World, One Dream"
as the theme slogan for the 2008 Olympic Games, Hu explained.
In his speech, President Hu expressed hope that the
people of China and Japan would work together to revitalize Asia as well as
promote world peace and development, thus opening up brighter prospects for
bilateral and global ties.
Hu's five-day trip to Japan began Tuesday, marking
the first visit by a Chinese head of state to the country in a decade.
