Magnitude 5.6 earthquake strikes off Taiwan's east coast

    BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck off the east coast of China's Taiwan early Sunday morning, according to China's seismological observation network.

    The quake struck at 3:42 a.m. Beijing Time (1942 GMT Saturday) with the epicenter at 24.0 degrees north latitude and 122.5 degrees east longitude.
