TOKYO, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks rose Monday.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 88.02 points, or 0.64 percent, from Friday to 13,743.36.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 1.03 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,342.79.
On the First Section, advancing issues outnumbered declining ones 808 to 803, with 106 others remaining unchanged.
Trading volume on the main section came to 1,599.80 million shares, down from Friday's 2,006.29 million.
Value leader Mizuho Financial Group falling 2,000 yen, or 0.39 percent, to 509,000 yen.
Volume leader Nippon Steel was down 14 yen, or over 2 percent, to 594 yen.
The TSE's Second Section index was down 6.31 points, or 0.22 percent, to 2,913.92 on a volume of 39.54 million shares.
On the Osaka Securities Exchange, the near-term June Nikkei 225 index futures contract was up 100 points to 13,760.
