MOSCOW, May 12 (Xinhua) -- The foreign ministers of Brazil, Russia, India
and China (BRIC) will discuss economic and energy issues when they meet in the
Russian city of Yekaterinburg this week, a Russian government official said on
Monday.
"It is planned that particular attention will be paid to topical trends in
the global economy and financial affairs, as well as energy security and
efficiency," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Boris Malakhov in a statement
posted on the ministry's website.
The top diplomats will also discuss international cooperation on climate
change, disarmament and non-proliferation, the fight against terrorism,
organized crime and drug trafficking, he said.
The Golden BRIC, a term created by economists of investment bank Goldman
Sachs, groups the world's four most prosperous emerging economies which have
been playing an increasingly important part in the world's trade and economic
development over the past years.
