TOKYO, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Wednesday.

    The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 164.82 points, or 1.18 percent, to 14,118.55, marking the highest close since Jan. 10.

    The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 12.99 points, or 0.96 percent, to 1,373.04.
