Russian, ROK rescue teams arrive in China's quake-hit Sichuan

    CHENGDU, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Rescue teams from Russia and the Republic of Korea (ROK) arrived in Chengdu, capital of the quake-hit Sichuan Province in southwest China on Friday to assist local disaster relief efforts.

    The Russians sent two batches of 98 rescuers including experienced professionals and doctors, who brought sniffer dogs and professional equipment with them. Full story

Fourth Russian plane sends humanitarian aid to quake-hit China 

    MOSCOW, May 16 (Xinhua) -- A fourth Russian Emergencies Ministry aircraft took off from Moscow on Friday evening, carrying humanitarian aid to China, where a devastating earthquake has claimed over 20,000 lives in its southwestern Sichuan province.

    The plane took off from the Ramenskoye airfield outside Moscow at 7:40 p.m. Moscow time (1540 GMT).  Full story
