BRASILIA, June 1 (Xinhua) -- In a friendly match held in the American city of Seattle early Sunday morning, the Brazilian men's national soccer team defeated Canada 3-2.

On a slippery Qwest Field, Brazil played their first of two friendly games in preparation for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. Their next game will be against Venezuela on Friday in the city ofBoston.

The Brazilians got off to a quick start, scoring in the 3rd minute of the game. On a crossed ball by Robinho, Diego received the ball, broke through two defenders, and sent the ball into the far right corner.

Only six minutes later, the Canadian team responded and scored their first goal of the game. Before the first half came to an end, Brazil was able to score in the 44th minute. On a crossed ball Gilberto, Luis Fabiano scored on a header, giving the advantage of 2-1 to Brazil.

The second half had two more goals scored, one by each team. Canada scored first in the 10th minute of the second half. De Guzman received the ball wide open and fired a bullet well outside of the penalty box, blowing the ball past Julio Cesar.

Seven minutes later, Robinho took advantage of a poorly passed ball by the Canadians and dribbled past the goalkeeper to mark the game's last goal. It was the first time in Brazil's history that they beat the Canadian national soccer team.

With many of Brazil's players coming from Europe, the team seemed lackadaisical and without any type of rhythm. Before the competition, members of the team where seen throughout the Seattle playing video games, window shopping and watching practice of the local team.
