LONDON, June 3 (Xinhua) -- The London stock market had slipped back into negative territory by Tuesday's midday, despite a tentative recovery in banking shares.

Royal Bank of Scotland rose 4.2 percent and Lloyds TSB added 1.9 percent as banks regained some ground after Monday's falls.
