HAVANA, June 4 (Xinhua) -- A total of 149 Cuban athletes have won tickets
for the 29th Olympic Games in Beijing.
Cyclist Yumari Gonzalez won the most recent ticket, Cuban sports
authorities was quoted by local press Wednesday.
The Cubans will compete in 16 sports and maybe 17 if the women's basketball
team books this month a ticket to the qualifying tournament in Spain.
Cuba sent 154 athletes to the 2004 Games, finishing 11th with nine gold,
seven silver and 11 bronze medals.
Cuba is the most successful Latin American country in the Olympics, having
gathered 65 gold, 53 silver and 52 bronze medals.
