Special report: Pakistani Situation    

    ISLAMABAD, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Thursday told the parliament that a draft for liberalization of visa policy with India was under consideration.

    "It is a fact that people have to face difficulties while going to India and stay there but with this agreement they would be facilitated," Qureshi said in the National Assembly.

    The people in both countries complain that they are facing genuine problems and have to wait for a long time to get visas despite air, rail and road links, the News Network International (NNI) news agency reported.

    There are thousands of families in both countries who were divided after the two countries got independence from the British colonial rule in 1947, according to NNI.

    Qureshi said according to Pakistani High Commissioner, at present there are 518 Pakistanis imprisoned in Indian jails. The Indian government acknowledges presence of only 147 prisoners and Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi has been assured by the Indian authorities that additional names of the prisoners will be provided shortly, said Qureshi.
