BAGHDAD, June 8 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. soldier has been killed by a roadside bomb in the capital city of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Sunday.
The incident took place late on Saturday when the bomb struck the soldier's vehicle in eastern Baghdad, a military statement said.
The name of the deceased soldier was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
The latest death brings the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq since the U.S-led invasion in March 2003 to about 4,095, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
