Relations
GAZA, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Deposed Hamas Prime Minister
Ismail Haneya said Monday that efforts to revive national dialogue were still in
their early phases.
"The efforts are still on their first step," Haneya
told reporters in Gaza, adding "We work on paving the way for dialogue to launch
it without any conditions and on the basis of no loser and no winner."
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas fired Haneya in
June last year when Hamas ousted Abbas' Fatah movement and took over the Gaza
Strip. Hamas continued to rule Gaza despite the formation of a western-backed
cabinet by Abbas in West Bank.
Abbas said last week that he is ready to talk to
Hamas after one year of boycott and banning on contacts between Fatah and Hamas.
Meanwhile, Haneya said his government works on
securing a mutual ceasefire with Israel in the Gaza Strip through Egyptian
mediators "to lift the siege and end the aggression."
Israel imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip and
increased military operations in the territory since Hamas took it over.¡¡
