Bush's visit, his last major European trip during his
eight-year-long presidency, is expected to cover a whole range of issues,
including Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and the Middle East. But it is generally
believed that there will not be major breakthroughs as European leaders are
already looking at his successor for future transatlantic ties.
Bush steps down on Jan. 20, 2009.
Bush's visit takes place in an atmosphere of improved transatlantic relations after the Iraq War in 2003 created serious divisions among members of the EU.
