DOHA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jasim bin Jabir al-Thani said Monday, and the two leaders agreed to substantially implement important bilateral agreements and continue to deepen cooperation in all fields.
Xi conveyed the greetings from Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to Prime Minister Hamad and appreciated the Qatari government's stance on adhering to the one-China policy.
He also thanked Qatar for firmly supporting the Beijing Olympic Games.
During the meeting, Xi and Hamad exchanged views on the situation of the Middle East and the Gulf region. They agreed to strengthen contact and coordination on hot regional issues, so as to promote regional peace and stability.
Xi arrived here Monday morning for an official visit to Qatar.
He also met with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiya Monday afternoon.
