BEIJING, July 2 (Xinhuanet) -- A 74-year-old woman ploughed her car through the front window of a convenience store and then tried to buy a six-pack of beer, media reported Wednesday.
Lynne Rice drove her 1988 Cadillac into Joe's Food Mart and Video, and ploughed about halfway through the store but nobody was injured, Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Jenny Ha said.
Stepping out of the car, Rice walked over to the cooler and pulled out a six-pack of Budweiser beer, but the sale was refused by the casher, and police was called instantly.
"I don't know how she managed to walk," said the store owner.
Police arrested the lady for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence and released her on 15,000 dollars bail, authorities said.
The crash destroyed two glass panels of about 8,000 dollars.
