Nepal expects best performance in Beijing Olympics

    KATHMANDU, July 2 (Xinhua) --The National Sports Council (NSP) of Nepal has completed its homework of selecting its players for Beijing Olympics 2008 and the Nepali players are busy in their close campaign with the hope of their best in event performance.

    "The Council has already selected seven players for participating in different games. Some of them are busy in international training and others are in close campaign inside the country," Jeevan Ram Shrestha, NSP member secretary said.

    Talking to Xinhua reporter on Wednesday, Shrestha who is also the general secretary of Nepal Olympic Committee said that seven players are active in close campaigns for 30 days, as they have already completed their internal campaign. High level coach and senior players are consulting with them for last months.

    The seven Nepali players will be participated in Athletics, Swimming, Shooting, Takandoo and Judo events respectively. As per the information provided by the Council, they will leave the country on Aug. 4.

    The Council informed that skilled athletics Deepak Bista who istaking training in south Korea for his better performance will compete in Tyakandoo while Karishma Karki and Prasiddha Jung Shah will compete in swimming. Karki and Shah are busy for their training in India.

    Likewise, the Ajun Basnet and Kamala Thapa are selected to compete in athletics events and best swimming player Fulmaya Kapchhaki will do her best for bagging the medal in neighboring country's courtyard.

    "Its great pleasure for me participating in Beijing Olympics asit is to be held in our neighbor country. I will do my best for clinching medals," Kapchhaki who was busy in her training said to Xinhua.
