Terra announces exclusivity in Internet for Olympic Games

    MEXICO CITY, July 3 (Xinhua) -- The Internet portal Terra, of the Spanish group Telefonica, announced Thursday that they got the exclusivity in Latin America to broadcast by internet the Beijing Olympic Games.

    During a press conference in Mexico City, general director of Terra Mexico Gerardo Adame said that during the Olympics they expect the visit in their portal of more than 10 million users.

    The accord with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will allow Terra to open 13 TV channels in their website, so the Latin American viewers can follow their athletes in the sports competitions during the Olympic Games.

    The Terra TV Internet surfers could enjoy a total of 3,300 hours of broadcasting during the 24 hours by day, Contents Director of Terra Mexico Gilberto Velasquez said.

    Terra's portal dedicated to the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008 will have blogs of some athletes, journalists and chroniclers in Beijing, who will write about they Olympic experiences thanks to the technical support of 25 professionals that will broadcast minute per minute.

    The directives of Terra said that the clients of the cell phones company Telefonica, could receive information contents of last minute in Beijing by SMS or Wap.

    Terra is present in 18 Latin American countries and has 58 million of visitors per month. During the past soccer World Cup Germany 2006 and the America Venezuela Cup 2007, Terra also had the exclusivity to broadcast by Internet.
