PYONGYANG, July 9 (Xinhua) -- An official newspaper praised Wednesday the
preparations for the Beijing Olympic Games, saying a safe and beautiful Beijing
was ready for welcoming the world.
China has put security of the games on the first place, said the official
Minju Joson daily. Chinese police were equipped with high- technologies,
including long-distance bomb detector and de-explosive robots. Anti-terrorism
exercises were also carried out.
New rail and air terminals in Beijing, along with the measure of cutting
half of the government motor vehicles from road, will at the most extent smooth
the traffic, it said.
Streets and major sceneries were going to be decorated with flowers.
Beijing would become a sea of flowers when the Olympic opens, it added.
The 29th Olympic Games will open on August 8, with only one month left from
now on.
