Special report: 2008 Olympic Games

    BEIJING, July 10 -- Many activities to celebrate the upcoming Olympic Games have been held in Beijing and other co-host cities. Organizers are adding the final touches and gearing up to welcome visitors from all over the world.

    In Qingdao, one of the co-host cities, more than 600 athletes from different countries are preparing at the Olympics Training Centre.

    Huang Xufeng, Chinese Sailing Team Member said "We are ready! We will do our best to achieve our goal."

    Qinhuangdao, one of the co-host cities for the Olympics football tournament, held a running event as one of the Countdown to Beijing programs. Hundreds of joggers showed their Olympic spirit along the three-kilometer journey.

    In Tianjin, another football co-host, the community organized an Olympics Culture Display and a choir group to show their enthusiasm. In other cities like Shenyang and Xiamen, activities like jogging and horse-riding have been held to celebrate the countdown.

    Many new Olympic related services are now available. In Tianjin, tens of thousands of Olympic security volunteers have been trained to help local police with security work. And at Shanghai's two international airports, special Olympic services have been added, including 16 special passages, foreign language services and a tourist volume forecasting system.
