ANKARA, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Iran's chief nuclear
negotiator is expected to arrive in the Turkish largest city of Istanbul to hold
talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan later on Sunday, diplomatic
sources said.
Saeed Jalili, the secretary general of Iran's Supreme
National Security Council and the country's chief nuclear negotiator, will
travel from Geneva, Switzerland to Istanbul in order to meet with Babacan at a
working dinner on Iran nuclear program, the sources added.
The two officials will discuss the outcome of
Jalili's recent talks on Iran's nuclear program in Geneva.
After his meeting with Babacan, Jalili is expected to
return to his country.
According to the diplomats, Iran has given no clear
answer to a package of incentives for suspending its nuclear program, but the
country is expected to make a response within two weeks.
The UN has so far imposed three sets of sanctions on
Iran over its nuclear program. Tensions with Iran have particularly intensified
since Tehran tested missiles last week, alarming Israel and pushing up oil
prices. Washington responded to the tests by saying that it would defend its
allies against any possible attacks.
