Special report: 2008 Olympic Games

BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's rowing team arrived in Beijing on Friday, hoping to make it lucky to enter the final 18 of the event in the Beijing Olympic Games.

This is the first part of Hong Kong's 34-athlete delegation that arrived in Beijing for the August 8-24 Games.

"We have four rowers and two coaches in this team, hoping to enter the final 18 of the event in both men's and women's events," said Chow Kwong-Wing, who will compete in men's lightweight double scull event with compatriot So Sau-Wah.

"We didn't have the chance to see the competition venue until now, but we saw the introduction to the venue before. I hope to begin training as soon as possible." he said.

Lee Ka-Man, the only female rower in Hong Kong's team, said the team had trained in Europe for six weeks and hoping to produce a surprise in their quest in the Games.
