GAZA, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- A senior Hamas leader said
Saturday the Palestinians are committed to the truce with Israel, which was
brokered by Egypt for six months in Gaza Strip between Israel and Gaza
militants.
Egypt brokered a truce between Israel and Gaza militant groups on June 19
for six months. However, Hamas movement accuses Israel for not being fully
committed to this truce.
Musa Abu Marzooq, deputy of Hamas movement's chief in Damascus told a
pro-Hamas website on the Internet that the Palestinians are fully committed to
the truce with Israel.
According to the indirect unwritten truce deal, Gaza militants stop
homemade rockets attacks on Israel for stopping Israeli ground and air
operations and easing a blockade imposed in Gaza Strip.
"The truce with Israel will be part of the dialogue that will be held in
Cairo soon among all Palestinian factions and political groups," said Abu
Marzooq, adding "there is an Egyptian pressure on Israel to be committed to the
truce."
He added that the Palestinian people in Gaza aren't feeling the fruits of
the truce "simply because Israel still imposes tight security measures on Gaza
Strip crossings and insists to keep Rafah border crossing closed."
However, Abu Marzooq wandered "what is the benefit of continuing the truce
with Israel, if Israel is not easing its restrictions and doesn't open the
closed crossings of Gaza."
"If Israel doesn't show a real commitment to the truce, the Palestinians
for sure won't be committed to it," said Abu Marzooq.
