Olympic village mayor meets Luxembourg Grand Duke

    BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chen Zhili, mayor of the Beijing Olympic Village, met with the visiting Luxembourg's head of state, Grand Duke Henri Albert Gabriel Felix Marie Guillaume in the village on Tuesday.

    Chen, who is also vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), noted that the Beijing Olympic Games is opening within three days, which is not only a sensational event for the Chinese people, but also for the peoples throughout the world.

    She pledged the village would make their utmost to offer best conditions and expressed her best wishes for the athletes, including those from Luxembourg, to play their best at the Games.

    Henri said he was very delighted to have the chance to attend the Games and he appreciated very much what China did in preparing for the event.

    After meeting, Chen accompanied Henri to a flag-raising ceremony for the Luxembourg delegation and delivered a welcome speech.
