BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Organizers of the Beijing Olympic Games have got a preparing job well done, said chiefs of both Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and the Canadian Olympic Delegation here on Thursday.
"BOCOG has done a remarkable job preparing Beijing for the Games," Michael Chambers, president of the Canadian Olympic Committee, told a press conference Thursday morning.
"Everything is ready for the Games and the people of Beijing have extended a warm welcome to the athletes and their coaches of the 205 countries from all regions of the world who are gathering together for this Olympic competition," he said. "The Canadian Teamis ready for and eagerly awaits the Games to begin."
His praise to the preparations done by the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 29th Olympic Games (BOCOG) has been echoed by Chefde Mission of the Canadian Olympic Delegation, Sylvie Bernier.
"We knew that Beijing would go above and beyond in its preparations for these Games and with what we've seen so far, they have even managed to exceed our high expectations," said Bernier, the 1984 gold medallist in diving. "The Olympic Village is spectacular and all of our teams are raving about their venues. In short, we are very impressed."
Canada have sent a competing contingent of 332 athletes to the Beijing Olympics, which to start here on Friday and run through to Aug. 24.
