BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said here Saturday that China wants to expand cooperation in a number of areas with Qatar and Kenya.

The Chinese vice president met separately with Qatari Crown Prince Shikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Kenyan Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka on Saturday. They are both here for the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of China-Qatar full diplomatic relations. China hopes to expand cooperation with Qatar in areas of energy, investment, infrastructure and education, Xi said.

The Qatari crown prince agreed with Xi and congratulated China for the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games.

In a meeting with Musyoka, Xi said China-Kenya relationship has withstood the test of time over the past 45 years since the two countries forged diplomatic ties.

Musyoka also gave his best wishes for the Beijing Olympic Games and pledged that Kenya will continue its one-China policy concerning the issue of Taiwan.
