UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned on Wednesday the terrorist attacks which have struck Algeria in the past 24 hours.
"The secretary-general extends his condolences to the people of Algeria and in particular, to the families of the victims. He urges once again that the international community support the efforts of the government of Algeria to combat terrorism," said a statement issued by Ban's press office.
"The secretary-general firmly believes that violence will not deter the people of Algeria from the path of peace and national reconciliation," it said.
On Wednesday, two car bombs hit the town of Bouira, southeast of the Algerian capital of Algiers, killing 11 people and wounding31 others.
The blasts came a day after one car bomb explosion in the eastern Algerian province of Bumerdes left 43 people killed and 45others injured. ¡¡
