BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- To some extent, Swedish shooter Jonas Jacobsson enjoyed a similar popularity at the Athens Paralympics as American swimming star Michael Phelps at the Beijing Olympics.

Four years ago, the 43-year-old riflist on wheelchair struck all four gold medals he pursued, expanding his Paralympic gold collection to 13. Meanwhile, he holds seven world records, a legendary achievement to many.

However, he attributes his success to good luck.

"This time, I have no specific goal. I will just do as good as Ican," said the cheerful man during a training break at the Beijing Shooting Range Hall on Friday.

Jacobsson is so diligent that he was back to training the day after he arrived in the Chinese capital last Saturday.

He is going to compete in four shooting events at this Paralympics, with the first scheduled next Monday.

Jacobsson said he didn't worry about adaptation to the environment at all, although there was a six-hour time difference between China and Sweden.

"I was here during the Good Luck Beijing World Cup this April for practice," he said.

In some shooting events, conditions for disabled athletes, who need shooting chairs and sometimes stands, are quite different from those for able-bodied people. But in 50-meter rifle prone, the difference was not that big.

Jacobsson, who was born with leg disability, holds the world record in mixed 50-meter rifle prone with 701.4 points, just 3.4 points short of the world mark for able-bodied person.

"My rifle broke down at that time, so the result (in April) was not so satisfactory," said the eight-time Paralympian, adding that if his scores are good at the Beijing Paralympics, he might consider competing in the Olympics.

Jacobsson was first coached by his father when he made his Paralympics debut in 1980 at the age of 15.

But he had to compete alone without his parents watching him ever since 1984 and this time is no exception.

"Without them, I could concentrate more," he said.

With the concentration, hopefully the shooter could repeat his glory and appear in the Olympic arena some day.
