Spanish media hails opening ceremony of Beijing Paralympics

    MADRID, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Spanish media Saturday hailed the opening ceremony of the Beijing Paralympics as "spectacular, passional and unforgettable."

    Spain's National Television broadcast live the opening ceremony of the Beijing Paralympics.

    The flame was lit up again in the Bird's Nest and the disabled athletes across the world have great enthusiasm for the Games, it reported.

    The Spanish leading sports newspaper Marca said the splendid opening ceremony ushered in the Beijing Paralympics and make the world admire again.

    The reports said people are looking forward to the opening ceremony of the Paralympics after they have enjoyed the splendid ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.

    During the two-and-a-half hour art performance, fireworks, music, flashlight, and superb performance staged by some 6,000 performers, including many disabled people, created a dreamy night for the 100,000 or so spectators.

    The opening ceremony unfolded a touching journey into the world of the disabled community, the reports said, adding that the ceremony climaxed when a triple Paralympican sitting in a wheelchair lit the cauldron for the Games, a symbol to prove human's ability to overcome any difficulty.
